3 Necessities for Righteous (Not Self-Righteous) Living

There are three things we need to pursue every single day in order to live with righteous conduct: God’s will, God’s glory, and God’s holiness. Before you write these things off as spiritual impossibilities, consider a few things.

Seeking God’s Will.

How can we know the will of God?  Knowing God’s will is the same thing as knowing God’s Word.  It is true, if we do not know what God has said, we will never be able to live as God intends.  But we have His Word recorded in 66 books. The only way to live with righteous intentions is to daily consume His Word.

Pursuing God’s Glory.

Paul said, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).  Living in the glory of God is accomplished in the minutiae of life. Ask yourself this question in every situation of life: Is what I am doing pleasing unto the Lord? When you answer in the affirmative, you are living for His glory.

Obtaining God’s Holiness.

This doesn’t happen overnight.  Holiness is the result of daily encounters with God. Over time, as we align our life with His Word, and consistently pursue His glory, we become more like Christ. Such pursuits happen incrementally, day by day.
