The Real Reason for All the Unrest

The unrest, dissatisfaction, and cultural angst that plagues our society (and every society) is merely a symptom of a much deeper problem…a problem as old as mankind himself. At the heart of every earthly frustration is the deep longing for paradise restored. No matter who is in charge, someone on the other side hates it because their “way of life” is violated. So we protest, we whine, we complain, we march. We hold up our signs with the anticipation that someone will see us and pay attention to our disgust. We do this with every passing cycle, every vote, every

Are We Settling for Substitutes?

The great tragedy in modern Christianity is not necessarily error in the church but rather that so few people actually recognize it.  Secular philosophy and cultural sentiments have numbed down the spiritual senses of the saints to such a degree that we have settled for substitutes.  We may not dance around the golden calf, but we’ve come to accept its presence in our midst.

A.W. Tozer said, “So skilled is error at imitating truth that the two are constantly being mistaken for each other.” Lines have disappeared in this post-modern world, at least in terms of spirituality.  We know longer

Instruction for the Church in These Last Days: Keep Looking Up!

The news in our world has, of late, become increasingly worse.  One can take the Bible, open it up beside the daily paper, and see how the signs of the times are unfolding rapidly.  Wars, terrorism, pestilences, earthquakes, signs in the sky, and signs in the sea are not just coincidental occurrences.

Christ said that men’s hearts would fail them for fear as they looked upon those things that transpire in the earth.  Can you feel it?  Can you sense the global groaning and the public pandemonium?  The cosmos is in historic conflict.  The earth is shaking. The enemy is …

5 Characteristics of Men Who “Must be Stopped”

“So skilled is error at imitating truth” said A.W. Tozer, “that the two are constantly being mistaken for each other.”  Such an observation succinctly describes Christendom in these last days.  Sure, there have always been tares among the wheat, and goats among the sheep.  There have always been prowling wolves who don the garments of the shepherd’s cloak.  But in these last days, the lines of spirituality and doctrine are blurred as never before.  Perhaps the greatest tragedy in the church is not error; it is that so few people recognize it.

William Howells said, “Parts and parcels of truth …

Life on the Sidelines (How Appendicitis Took Me Out of the Game, and What I’m Learning from It)

I remember the play vividly before the hit.

It was an option to the left.  Our quarterback could keep the ball or toss it.  He read his block and quickly passed it to me behind the line of scrimmage.  In my mind I would catch the ball, follow my blocker, and turn up field as quickly as possible for positive yardage.  It was a pretty simple play on paper.  But the only way it works is if everyone follows through with their assignment.  My fellow running back forgot his block and allowed the defensive-back to come through the line without …

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
