10 Reasons Why I Love the Married Life

I love being married.  For years I prayed that God would unite my heart with someone I could spend the rest of my life with.  The first time I met Heather Pugh, I knew that God had heard and answered my prayer.  On Valentine’s Day in 2000, I asked her to be my wife.  On a stagecoach in downtown Atlanta she made me the happiest man in the world when she said “yes.”  She has continued to make me happy throughout these thirteen years.

We have learned many things throughout the course of our marriage, and I am certain we …

Are You Married to Your Phone?

In 1876, an internal memo from the Western Union read, “This ‘telephone’ has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication. The device is inherently of no value to us.” Western Union, nor the world at large, could have ever imagined the revolutionary power they held in their hands.  Like a small acorn that turned into a forest of oaks, that “worthless” device would become one of the biggest phenomenons of the next two centuries.

3 Keys to Maximize Influence with Your Children

Our influence is felt most significantly by those closest to us.  This is especially true as it relates to our children.  Henry Ward Beecher said, “The humblest of individual exerts some influence; either for good or evil upon others.”  Regardless of how you influence your children, be certain, they are being influenced.  There are many factors in having a positive effect in their lives, but here are three keys that are certain to have long-lasting, and far-reaching results:

Thomas Jefferson said, “The happiest moments of my life have been the ones I have spent at home in the bosom of my family.” I concur; I am the most content when I am with my wife and children.  Therefore, to ensure I invest my time wisely, I have to prioritize my calendar with …

Lessons in Fatherhood from the Life of Job

The book of Job gives many life lessons from which to glean: dealing with tragedy, handling depression, overcoming grief, experiencing death, encountering bitter relationships, mysteries of the afterlife, the creation, the existence of man, and ultimately the providence of God.  However, as you study Job’s life one thing is often overlooked- his attributes as a godly father.

When looking for material on family, parenting, or fatherhood one would assume that the best material would be from the latest and greatest author who understands our time, our culture, and our generation.  But that’s what makes the Word of God so powerful.  …

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
